The finals are set after day six at World Boxing Cup: China 2026 – Guiyang City

June 20, 2026

Uzbekistan enjoyed a successful sixth day at the ‘World Boxing Cup: China 2026 – Guiyang City’ as its boxers secured seven victories in the semi-finals. It means that Uzbekistan will contest tomorrow’s finals after semi-finals wins for Farzona Fozilova (W48kg), Abdumalik Khalokov (M60kg), Oltinoy Sotimboeva (W80+kg), Turabek Khabibullaev (M90kg), Asilbek Jalilov (M50kg), Nigina Uktamova (W57kg) and Javokhir Ummataliev (M80kg).

China will have the second most boxers in tomorrow’s finals with six, closely followed by Kazakhstan with five and Brazil with four.

In the Women’s competition, China’s Liu Yang secured a victory over Australia’s Lekeisha Pergoliti in the Light Middleweight (70kg) category with a 5:0 unanimous decision. Yang will face France’s Maelys Richol after her 4:1 victory over 2024 Paris Olympian, Chantelle Reid of England.

Two-time Olympian Tammara Thibeault of Canada secured her place in the final after defeating Poland’s Agata Kaczsmarka 5:0 in the Middlewight (75kg) category. Thibeault will face China’s Ziyi Bao who also got through her semi-final bout against Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova via unanimous decision.

On another day of top-class action, USA secured victories in both of their semi-finals as Lorenzo Patricio and Marcus Luther got the better of their opponents, Indian Nikhil Nikhil and Iran’s Ali Habibinezhad via 5:0 unanimous decisions in the Men’s Bantamweight (55kg) and Welterweight (65kg) competitions respectively.

Possibly the biggest upset was in the men’s Cruiserweight (85kg) where Italy’s unranked Paolo Caruso secured a 3:2 split decision victory over World Boxing Championships gold medallist and number one ranked, Akmaljon Isroilov of Uzbekistan. The Italian will meet France’s Junior Tadah in the final, who got the better of India’s Jugnoo Jugnoo in the semis.

In the men’s Lightweight (60kg) competition, we’ll be seeing a repeat of the 2025 World Boxing Championships final after Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov beat Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov 4:1, to set-up a final with Luiz Oliveira of Brazil who secured a 4:1 split decision win over England’s William Hewitt.

The only men’s finalist not to fight on day six was Hugo Grau of France who progress into the finals after Moldova’s Alexandru Paraschiv pulled out of the competition.
