A final field of 190 boxers from 33 National Olympic Committees has been confirmed following the completion of technical meeting and competition draw for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, with boxing beginning on Monday, 21 September.
The confirmed total comprises 115 men and 75 women, updating the provisional figure of 199 athletes published in World Boxing’s earlier competition preview, which reflected entries as of 18 September.
Ahead of the opening bouts, team officials and technical officials attended the Technical Meeting on 20 September, reviewing competition procedures, regulations and operational requirements. A team of 41 technical officials will oversee the boxing competition.
All bouts will take place at Nishio Gymnasium in Aichi, Japan, with the programme running from 21 September to 2 October.
Athletes will compete across 11 weight categories: six for men at 55kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and 90kg+, and five for women at 51kg, 54kg, 60kg, 65kg and 75kg.

The men’s 70kg division will open the competition, with preliminary bouts taking place across both sessions on day one.
Among the home nation’s contenders in that division is Sewonrets Okazawa, a gold medallist at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and silver medallist at the 2025 World Boxing Championships. The two-time Olympian has spoken to World Boxing about his ambition to win Olympic gold and raise boxing’s profile in Japan.
Preliminary rounds will continue through 28 September, followed by the semi-finals on 29 and 30 September. After a rest day on 1 October, all 11 champions will be crowned across two finals sessions on 2 October.
With athlete check-in and the Technical Meeting complete, attention now turns to the opening bell as Asia’s established champions and emerging talent begin their pursuit of Asian Games gold.
