DAY FOUR of the ‘World Boxing Cup: China 2026 – Guiyang City’ saw 20 bouts take place in a single session at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Centre, which featured action in the women’s flyweight (W51kg) and bantamweight (W54kg) categories and the men’s welterweight (M65kg) division.
France was the most successful country on the day with the three wins.
The standout performance was in the women’s bantamweight competition where Wassila Lkhadiridefeated the 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist and world number one, Hsiao-Wen Huang of Chinese Taipei, on a 4:1 split decision to guarantee at least a bronze medal.
She will meet Italy’s Sirine Charaabi in Saturday’s semi-final, after she outpointed Tati De Jesus of Brazil.
The other French winners on the day were Hugo Grau who defeated the host nation’s Xin Jin in the men’s welterweight category and Romane Moulai in the women’s flyweight division who secured a 5:0 win over Valeria Amparan of Mexico.
Moulai will face Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova in the quarter-finals of the women’s flyweightcategory, which also features an enticing clash between 2025 World Boxing Championships light-flyweight gold medallist, Minakshi Minakshi from India, and Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova who is ranked three in world at flyweight.
The other action in the men’s welterweight division saw victories for the USA’s Marcus Luther who scored a superb 3:2 victory over Brazilian world number three, Yuri Falcao. He will meet Mohamed Siala of Germany in tomorrow’s quarter-final.
In the other quarter-finals, England’s Patris Mughalzai will face Ali Habibinezhad of Iran; MirzokhidImannnazarov of Kyrgyzstan will box Moldova’s Alexandru Paraschiv and Bartlomiej Roskowicz will take-on Hugo Grau, after they all enjoyed victories today.
