Thirteen boxers advanced across three weight categories on the second day of boxing at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday, 22 September. Nishio Gymnasium hosted five preliminary bouts in the women’s 51kg and 54kg divisions, followed by eight men’s 55kg contests in the evening.
Iran’s Mehdi Kazemi opened the evening session with a 4-1 split-decision victory over DPR Korea’s So Chon Ryong, while Iraq’s Abbas Qasim Hamdan Al Sarray advanced with a third-round stoppage against Sri Lanka’s Rukmal Prasanna Podi Arachchige.
Tajikistan’s Meroj Sufijonov secured a 5-0 unanimous victory over Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman, before India’s Jadumani Singh Mandengbam defeated Nepal’s Chandra Bahadur Thapa by the same margin.
Bangladesh’s Md Utsob Ahmmed continued the action with a 5-0 unanimous victory over Bhutan’s Migma Dorji. Thailand’s Kangpi Bokhunthod followed with another unanimous win, defeating Turkmenistan’s Daniyar Rozmetov 5-0 to reach the round of 16.
Jordan’s Huthaifa Eshish also progressed, securing a first-round stoppage against Laos’ Vanesy Heuangthisouan.
The final bout of the evening saw Kyrgyzstan’s Zafarbek Shakirzhanovich Kamilov defeat Indonesia’s Jill Mandagieby a 4-1 split decision, completing the men’s 55kg programme.
Earlier, the opening session featured four unanimous decisions and one stoppage across the women’s 51kg and 54kg divisions.
Sri Lanka’s Nadeeka Pushpakumari Ranasinghe Arachchige began the day with a 5-0 unanimous victory over Afghanistan’s Lala Kargar in the women’s 51kg round of 32.
Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam followed with a convincing performance against Nepal’s Ramisha Shrestha, winning every round on all five judges’ scorecards to secure a 5-0 unanimous decision.
India’s Sakshi also advanced at 51kg, defeating the Philippines’ Aira Villegas 5-0. All five judges awarded Sakshi each of the three rounds.
The action then moved to the women’s 54kg division, where Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Anh secured a 5-0 unanimous victory over Sri Lanka’s Keshani Hansika Kasthuri Kasthuri Arachchige.
DPR Korea’s Pang Chol Mi completed the opening session with a stoppage victory over Indonesia’s Nabila Maharani. The referee ended the contest 48 seconds into the second round, sending Pang through to the round of 16.
