England was the most successful team with three victories on the third day of boxing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games at the Scottish Exhibition Campus (SEC) in Glasgow which featured 26 bouts in the men’s bantamweight (M55kg), welterweight (M65kg) and heavyweight (M90kg) categories and the women’s bantamweight (W54kg) and featherweight (W57kg) competitions.
India, Canada, Australia and Wales were the next most successful nations on the day with two wins each.
Canada enjoyed a great first session of boxing which saw Scarlett Delgado secure a unanimous win over the home nation’s Stephanie Kernachan at bantamweight (W54kg).
Later in the session, teammate, Gabriel Labrie, made it two wins from two for Canada with a 5:0 victory over Afzal Khan of Pakistan in the men’s welterweight (M65kg) division.
Australia’s two victories in the early session came from Jye Dixon at bantamweight (M55kg) and Jacob Cassar at welterweight (M65kg).
In the men’s bantamweight (M55kg) division, Ghana’s Amadu Mohammed delivered the only stoppage of the early session as he ended his contest with Eriu Temakau of Kiribati inside a round.
He will face England’s Ellis Trowbridge after he defeated Rukmal Prasanna of Sri Lanka 4:0.
Trowbridge’s England teammate, Lauren Mackie, will join him in the quarter finals after she narrowly edged out Australia’s Monique Suraci on a 3:2 split in their women’s bantamweight (W54kg) face-off.
The later session saw India’s Preeti Preeti and Judamani Singh Mandengbam enjoy success in the men and women’s bantamweight competitions, however Aditya Pratap Yadav was unable to make it a hat trick of victories for India as Uganda’s Nuhu Batte delivered a superb last round to secure a fantastic 3:2 split decision victory in their welterweight (M65kg) bout.
Batte will face England’s Patris Mughalzai in Tuesday’s quarter finals after the his 5:0 win over Northern Ireland’s John Paul Hale in their round of 16 clash.
The final bout of the day signalled the start of the men’s heavyweight (M90kg) competition with a straightforward win for Connor Williams of Wales, whose bout with Petrus Jacobus Kotze of Namibia was stopped in round two by the referee. Williams will face Niue’s Holo Tutakitoa-Williams in his quarter final on Tuesday.
