Boxing action begins at World Boxing Cup – Felix Stamm: Poland 2025

Day one saw 48 boxers take to the ring at the World Boxing Cup – Felix Stamm: Poland 2025, held at Arena COS Torwar, in Warsaw. The competition takes place from 12 – 16, 2025.

The 24 bouts on the opening day were spread across ten weight classes, seven men’s and three women’s.

Host nation, Poland, got off to a perfect start with two wins from two for their boxers in session one. Nikolas Pawlik (55kg) secured a 4:1 win over Türkiye’s Semih Gumus while Damian Durkacz (70kg), who competed at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, delivered a unanimous 5:0 victory over Germany’s Paris Olympian, Magomed Schachidov.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov won by RSC in the second round against Oskar Kopera, of Poland, in the first 90+kg bout in the competition. The men’s 65kg saw a tightly contested, all-Mongolian affair, with Misheelt Battumur getting the better of Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt by a 3:2 split decision.

Poland had the most wins on day one with six wins, followed by England with four, then Uzbekistan and Mongolia with three each. Poland’s Weronika Dziubek won the battle between the best performing nations on the first day, defeating England’s Kayla Allen with a 3:2 split decision.

Tomorrow will feature another two sessions, the first starting at 11:00 CET followed by an evening session that begins at 17:00 CET. 30 bouts are scheduled across ten weight classes, made up of five women’s and five men’s.

More than 180 boxers from 24 national federations set to compete at World Boxing Cup – Feliks Stamm: Poland 2025

More than 180 boxers from 24 National Federations countries will take part in the World Boxing Cup Finals – Felix Stamm: Poland 2025 when the action gets underway next week (12 – 16 May 2025) at the 16 at Arena COS Torwar, in Warsaw.

101 men and 82 women are registered to take part in the competition which will feature action at 10 weight categories each for both men and women.

The draw for the event will be on Sunday 11 May and the action will get underway on Monday 12 May 2025.  Details of the draw and all event information will be available at https://pzb.com.pl/puchar-swiata-warszawa-2025/event-documents

Host nation Poland has 30 boxers signed up to compete including Paris silver medallist, Julie Szeremeta.

Europe is the most-represented continent with teams from England, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Finland, France, Spain, Kosovo, Lithuania, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey, Wales, and Italy.

Africa will be represented by Gambia and Nigeria and South America by Brazil. Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Uzbekistan are making the journey from Asia. Merveille Binda will compete as a refugee.

World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 Concludes

The World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 was completed on Saturday, April 5, inside Rafain Palace Hotel and Convention in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. Eighteen champions were crowned on the final day of competition, finalizing a six-day tournament that kicked off the 2025 calendar for World Boxing.

On the final day of the men’s competition, Uzbekistan cleaned up with an astounding five wins, while Brazil claimed a pair of victories in Saturday’s gold medal bouts. India earned a walkover victory in the 70kg weight class and Kazakhstan secured one gold medal in the loaded 55kg division.

In the women’s finals schedule, Poland was the lone nation with multiple gold medals, one from Wiktoria Rogalinska (54kg) and Barbara Marcinkowska (70kg). Italy, Brazil, England, Kazakhstan, Argentina and Norway notched champions on the final day.

For the men’s total medal count, 10 nations closed the week with athletes atop the podium. Uzbekistan led the way with seven medals, five of which were gold. India checked in next with six medals, while Brazil came in third with five medals. England earned four medals, three of which were silver. France, Kazakhstan and Poland each earned three medals. Italy and the United States each earned two medals, while Guatemala closed the week with one bronze medal.

In the women’s medal count, 11 countries claimed medals across the total standings. Poland led all nations with seven medals, including two gold, three silver and two bronze. Italy finished second overall with five total medals, while Brazil and England tied for third with four medals each. The United States finished fifth overall with three medals, including one silver and two bronze. Australia, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan each claimed two medals. Argentina, Germany and Norway rounded out the medal standings with one medal for each nation.

Up next, the World Boxing Cup series will head to Astana, Kazakhstan, 30 June through 7 July.

Finals Set for World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025

Finals matchups were set for six more weight classes at the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 inside Rafain Palace Hotel and Convention in Foz do Iguachu, Brazil, on Friday, April 4. Saturday’s championships schedule will consist of 18 bouts across as many weight classes with nine matches in each of the men’s and women’s competitions.

Friday’s lone session began with a women’s 51kg matchup between Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Urakbayeva and Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska. While the action went back and forth between the opening two rounds, Urakbayeva ultimately earned a 3-2 victory.

Bout two featured Italy’s Lucia Elen Ayari and the United States’ Jennifer Lozano in another tightly contested showdown. Lozano stepped ahead after pushing the pace in the first round. Ayari clawed back on the judges’ scorecards over the final two rounds and earned a 3-2 win over the American. Urakbayeva and Ayari will now square off in the first bout of Saturday’s evening session.

There were no questions in the 57kg division as each winner punched their ticket to the gold medal match with a 5-0 win. Poland’s Julia Szeremeta, a Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist, bested Kazakhstan’s Sarsenbek in the opening semifinal of the division. In the following bout, Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu, another Paris 2024 Olympian, cruised past England’s Vivien Parsons in front of the home crowd. Szeremeta and Romeu will face off in bout two of Saturday’s evening session.

Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek overpowered India’s Manish Rathore in the 55kg weight class to book his ticket to the gold medal match. Altynbek swayed all five judges during the bout and will now face Uzbekistan’s Mirarzizbek Mirzakhalilov, who also scored a 5-0 win over his Guatemalan opponent, Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos. Altynbek and Mirzakhalilov are scheduled to box in bout five of Saturday’s evening session.

The men’s 65kg division also featured a pair of 5-0 wins for Brazil’s Yuri Reis and India’s Abhinash Jamwal. Reis dazzled in front of the Brazilian crowd and earned three perfect scorecards from four judges against England’s Patris Mulghalzai. Jamwal also left no question on his side of the bracket and claimed 10-9 scorecards from four judges throughout the match. Reis and Jamwal will contend for the gold medal in bout six during the evening session on Saturday.

Uzbekistan has been dominant throughout the week and Javokhir Ummataliev’s 80kg semifinal matchup against Kazakhstan’s Dias Molzhigitov was no different. Ummataliev was on point from start to finish and scored a 5-0 win over Molzhigitov. Brazil’s Wanderley Pereira overpowered France’s Yojerlin Cesar with a unanimous decision victory, marking Brazil’s third victory of the day. Ummataliev and Pereira will now meet in the title match, scheduled for bout eight of Saturday’s evening session.

In the first semifinal bout of the 85kg division, Kazakhstan’s Daulet Tulemissov left no question and closed the match early with a second-round knockout (KO) against France’s Abdoulaye Traore. The day’s final bout featured Uzbekistan’s Akmaljon Isroilov and Poland’s Jakub Straszewski. Isroilov carried out yet another major victory for his nation and won via unanimous decision. Tulemissov and Isroilov will meet inside the ropes on Saturday in bout eight of the first session.

Saturday’s schedule will feature two sessions, an afternoon session and an evening session, with nine championship bouts in each block. World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 Semi Finals Begin on Day 4

Day four of the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 finished on Thursday inside Rafain Palace Hotel and Convention in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. After 24 bouts, half of the event’s semi final competition was determined, with just two days of action to go in the opening tournament of the year within the World Boxing Cup series.

Thursday’s competition featured 24 bouts across two sessions, setting up the gold medal matches for 12 weight classes. Poland led the way on Thursday and secured five wins, four of which came on the women’s side. Great Britain earned four wins throughout the day, three men and one woman, while Uzbekistan notched four wins on the men’s side of the competition.

Italy has been consistently strong among the women’s competitors and sent a trio of those athletes into title bouts on day four. Brazil claimed two victories from its men’s contingent, including a decisive 4-1 win from Paris 2024 Olympian Luiz Oliveira in the men’s 60kg division.

Argentina, Australia, France, India, Norway and the USA each earned one victory on the day, closing out the list of national federations that gained a win during day four.

Among some of the more impressive performances throughout Thursday’s schedule, Poland’s Pawel Brach (60kg) closed out his bout against India’s Sachin after a quick start in the opening round. Brach employed a powerful body shot in the first round and claimed the victory after the India staff threw in the towel between rounds one and two.

Brazil’s Kaue Belini (75kg) also ended his bout early and registered a knockout against Italy’s Remo Salvati in bout 21. Belini secured the stoppage in the opening round, setting up the gold medal bout against Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboev on Saturday, April 5.

Quarter Finals Conclude on Day 3 at World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025

The quarter final rounds of the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 concluded on Wednesday inside Rafain Palace Hotel and Convention in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. 22 bouts took place across two sessions setting the stage for Thursday’s semifinal schedule.

Wednesday’s competition began with the women’s 57kg division, where Poland’s Julia Szeremeta and Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu punched their tickets to the next round. Szeremeta defeated the United States’ Alyssa Mendoza, 5-0, while Romeu claimed a 4-1 win over Chinese Taipei’s Shih-Yi Wu.

Bouts three through six consisted of quarter finals competition for the men’s 55kg division, all of which were finished decisively. India’s Manish Rathore claimed a 3-0 win over Australia’s Yusuf Chothia, and will now face Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek. Altynbek nabbed a 5-0 decision over France’s Bilal Benali. On the other side of the bracket, Guatemala’s Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos scored a knockout against Italy’s Tommaso Sciacca. In bout six, Uzbekistan’s Mirarzizbek Mirzakhalilov cruised to a 5-0 win over Poland’s Nikolas Pawlik. Mijangos and Mirzakhalilov will now square off in the second semifinal of the 55kg bracket.

The final four bouts of the afternoon session were contested in the 70kg division where India’s Hitesh, France’s Makan Traore, England’s Odel Kamara and the USA’s Carlos Flowers kept their tournament hopes alive. Hitesh won 5-0 over Italy’s Gabriele Guidi Rontani and will now take on Traore, who defeated Kazakhstan’s Darkhan Duisebay 4-1. Kamara toppled Uzbekistan’s Ikboljon Kholdarov via unanimous decision. Flowers overpowered his Panamanian foe, Eduardo Beckford, and earned an RSC in the final round. Flowers and Kamara will now meet in the semi finals with a shot at the gold medal on the line.  

USA’s Jennifer Lozano and Italy’s Lucie Elen Ayari rolled to 5-0 wins over their respective opponents during Wednesday’s 51kg competition. Lozano powered past Chinese Taipei’s Ching-Yu Shiu, while Ayari knocked off Panama’s Yuliett Hinestroza, setting up a showdown between the American and the Italian. Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Urakbayeva bested Brazil’s Carline Almeida, 3-2, and she will now face Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska, who rolled past Argentina’s Aldana Florencia Lopez by a score of 4-1.

In the men’s 65kg weight class, Brazil’s Yuri Reis notched a 3-2 win over Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, setting up a semi final contest against England’s Patris Mulghalzai. Mulghalzai battled to a 3-2 victory over Poland’s Bartlomiej Roskowicz. India’s Abhinash Jamwal found his footing early and snagged a 5-0 victory over Germany’s Denis Bril. Italy’s Gianluigi Malanga secured his spot in the medal round and will take on Jamwal, following a 3-0 win over USA’s Dustin Jimenez.

The final four bouts of the day consisted of the action in the 80kg division. Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Ummataliev, Kazakhstan’s Dias Molzhigitov, Brazil’s Wanderley Pereira and France’s Yojerlin Cesar claimed victories. Pereira scored a 5-0 win over Guatemala’s Wyatt Dansel Trujillo Barillas, while Cesar also earned a 5-0 result over England’s Dimeji Shittu. Ummataliev won 3-2 against USA’s Robby Gonzales, setting up a match against Molzhigitov, who bested Poland’s Nikoden Kozak 5-0.

Poland Shines on Day Two of World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025

Day two of the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 is complete after 23 bouts were decided inside Rafain Palace Hotel & Convention in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. The day was split into two sessions, an afternoon session and an evening session, with eight divisions, six men’s and two women’s, in action.

Poland erupted for five victories throughout Tuesday’s competition, leading off with a 5-0 win from Wiktoria Rogalinska over Kazakhstan’s Anita Adisheva in the opening bout of the day for the 54kg weight class. Pawel Brach scored a 5-0 win over the United States’ Ramon Ordonez just four bouts later in a men’s 60kg matchup, creating a wave of momentum for Poland’s remaining three contenders left for the evening session. Aneta Rygielska (women’s 60kg), Jakub Slominski (men’s 50kg) and Jakub Straszewski (men’s 85kg) carried that momentum and closed out a perfect day for Poland with wins in the form of 4-1, 5-0 and 4-1, respectively.

Brazil, Italy and Uzbekistan checked in next with three wins each for a three-way tie for wins on day two. Brazil split their six bouts on the day with three wins coming on the men’s side of the tournament. Yuri Reis (men’s 65kg), Kaue Belini (men’s 75kg) and Luiz Oliveira (men’s 60kg) earned the Brazilians’ three victories, each by flawless 5-0 decisions.

Italy was led on the day by Sirine Charaabi (54kg), Rebecca Nicoli (women’s 60kg) and Gianluigi Malanga (men’s 65kg), marking a 3-for-4 outing for the Italians on Tuesday. Uzbekistan also closed out a perfect second day of competition with three victories of its own, carrying over the success from Monday’s competition. Madiyar Daniyarov (men’s 60kg), Asilbek Jalilov (men’s 50kg) and Akmaljon Isroilov (men’s 85kg) carried the flawless record for Uzbekistan during Tuesday’s action.

The squads from France and the USA each garnered two victories on day two, with the United States claiming its two wins during the afternoon session. France only competed in two bouts during Tuesday’s competition, both of which came in the evening session.

Australia, England, India, Kazakhstan and Norway rounded out the results from Tuesday’s action with one victory each.

Day One of the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 Concludes

The opening day of competition at the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025 has concluded with 13 bouts contested throughout the first session of the week. Day one consisted of action across five weight classes, including four men’s divisions and one women’s division.

Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen opened the tournament against Brazil’s two-time Olympian Beatriz Soares, who holds a silver medal from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a bronze medal from last summer’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Chen, a Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist herself, never backed down and ultimately won the judges over with a dazzling 4-1 victory in the 60kg showdown.

Bouts two through five consisted of action in the men’s 55kg weight division and featured a mix of results. Australia’s Yusuf Chothia bested the United States’ Orlando Zamora via a 3-2 decision. Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek then cruised to a 4-1 win over Brazil’s Michael Trindade in bout three. Guatemala’s Jose Daniel Felipe Mijangos wasted no time in his tournament opener and cashed in a first-round stoppage over Germany’s Omar Salah Ibrahim. Uzbekistan’s Mirarzizbek Mirzakhalilov rounded out Monday’s 55kg action with a tidy 5-0 victory over Sweden’s Nebil Ibrahim.

In bout six, the start of the men’s 70kg division, Italy’s Gabriele Guidi Rontani provided a statement win with a brief first-round stoppage over Guatemala’s Walter Ariel Duarte Vasquez. Rontani was a tidal wave of aggression in the bout and peppered his opponent with devastating hooks that ended the bout early.

In the ninth bout of the day, USA’s Carlos Flowers scored the upset with a flawless 5-0 win over Australia’s 2024 Olympian, Shannan Davies. Flowers was composed and consistent throughout his tournament debut and punched his ticket to the quarterfinal round of the men’s 70kg division.

There was no doubt for the judges during the final three bouts of Monday’s action, as England’s Dimeji Shittu and Brazil’s Wanderley Pereira and Isaias Filho each grabbed a 5-0 victory.
