Twenty gold medallists confirmed on final day of boxing in Astana

After a week of world class boxing, twenty boxers won gold medals at the World Boxing Cup: Kazakhstan – Astana 2025. The event, held at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Art Palace, featured ten weight categories for men and ten for women.

Over 400 boxers entered the competition that began on June 30, with 80 picking up a medal. The host nation, Kazakhstan, won the most gold medals with eight, followed by Brazil with four and India with three. France, Finland, Uzbekistan, Norway and Australia all picked up one gold medal. Designed to enhance the global boxing calendar, the World Boxing Cup series plays a crucial role in shaping the future of Olympic-style boxing, with ranking points distributed to boxers based on their performance throughout the events.

The World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 will be the culmination of the World Boxing Cup series this year and following the events in Brazil, Czechia and Kazakhstan. The competition will take place at the same time as the World Boxing Congress 2025 which will host stakeholders, officials, and dignitaries from the global boxing community. 

Next up is the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, scheduled from 4-14 September 2025. With over 500 competitors it will be the biggest Olympic-style boxing event to be held in the UK since London 2012.
