The final 51 places for boxers at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be up for grabs when the action takes place at the 2nd World Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand from 24 May – 2 June 2024.
578 male and female boxers from 132 National Olympic Committees and the Boxing Refugee Team are in the draw to take part in the tournament which will see competition across seven men’s weight categories and six for women.
The week-long competition is the final event in the qualification pathway for boxers for Paris 2024. Of the 51 places on offer, 23 will go to women and 28 to men.
The event in Bangkok comes after five Continental Qualifying events (covering Europe, Africa, Asia, The Americas, and Oceania), which saw 64 men and 75 women secure qualification. This was followed by the 1st World Qualification Tournament in Italy, when 28 men and 21 women booked a place at Paris 2024.
Once the final qualifier in Bangkok is concluded, the final nine boxing places at this summer’s Games will be granted as Universality places, meaning that the competition at Paris 2024, will be contested by 124 men and 124 women – the first time in history when equal numbers of males and females will compete in boxing at an Olympic Games.
The 2nd World Qualification Tournament event is being organised by the Paris Boxing Unit (PBU) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
