
More quarter finals took place today at the World Boxing Cup: Kazakhstan – Astana 2025 at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Art Palace.
36 quarter-final matchups took place across two sessions with all of today’s winners securing themselves at least a bronze medal courtesy of reaching the semi-final stage.
Patricia Mbata, from Nigeria, earned an impressive 5:0 win against Poland’s Aleksandra Cyrek in the women’s 70kg – Nigeria’s first win in the competition so far. In the men’s 60kg, two of the top performing nations met in a tense affair, with Brazil’s Paris Olympian, Luiz Oliveira, edging a 3:2 split decision win over India’s Sachin Sachin.
Previous World Boxing Cup gold medallist Nikita Putilov, from Germany, booked a semi-final spot with a 5:0 victory against Bulgaria’s Yordan Morejon in the men’s 90kg+.
Sixteen bouts will take place across one session on day five, starting at 19:00 (UTC+5), including four semi-finals.
