Boxing action begins at World Boxing Cup – Felix Stamm: Poland 2025

Day one saw 48 boxers take to the ring at the World Boxing Cup – Felix Stamm: Poland 2025, held at Arena COS Torwar, in Warsaw. The competition takes place from 12 – 16, 2025.

The 24 bouts on the opening day were spread across ten weight classes, seven men’s and three women’s.

Host nation, Poland, got off to a perfect start with two wins from two for their boxers in session one. Nikolas Pawlik (55kg) secured a 4:1 win over Türkiye’s Semih Gumus while Damian Durkacz (70kg), who competed at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, delivered a unanimous 5:0 victory over Germany’s Paris Olympian, Magomed Schachidov.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov won by RSC in the second round against Oskar Kopera, of Poland, in the first 90+kg bout in the competition. The men’s 65kg saw a tightly contested, all-Mongolian affair, with Misheelt Battumur getting the better of Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt by a 3:2 split decision.

Poland had the most wins on day one with six wins, followed by England with four, then Uzbekistan and Mongolia with three each. Poland’s Weronika Dziubek won the battle between the best performing nations on the first day, defeating England’s Kayla Allen with a 3:2 split decision.

Tomorrow will feature another two sessions, the first starting at 11:00 CET followed by an evening session that begins at 17:00 CET. 30 bouts are scheduled across ten weight classes, made up of five women’s and five men’s.
